The 2013 Accessibility:
Commercial and Residential Design Workshop is scheduled to take place on November 15, 2013 from 9:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon at the AIA
San Francisco located at 130 Shutter Street, Suite 600, San Francisco,
California.
This advanced workshop focuses
on the different issues that surround California’s application of the
accessibility regulations for 2014. Building on the basic structure of
barrier-free design, the workshop will introduce the new 2013 building code and
reorganization of Chapter 11B.
The topics to be discussed
include the prioritization of exterior improvements, toilet room design,
scoping of alterations, adaptive verse accessible living spaces, and other
relevant subject matters.
Invited to serve as Resource
Speaker is Ms. Dawn Anderson, the Principal Architect of As It Stands, a
consulting firm based in California that provides quality assurance and
inspection services.
Finishing both the morning and
afternoon sessions of the workshop entitles the participant to 5-hours worth of
continuing education units in the study of accessibility in the built
environment.
