The
American Institute of Architects, San Francisco (AIA SF) is inviting everyone
to the Acoustic Wayfinding workshop happening on September 24, 2013 from 6:00
to 8:00 in the evening at the ARUP located at 560 Mission Street, 7th Floor,
San Francisco, CA.
This
seminar tackles Acoustic Wayfinding concepts which were introduced to the
design community Cushner and Chris Downey back in 2011. It shall focus on
creating a robust sensory environment in buildings in order to aid
visually-impaired occupants. Attendees will work on a site-specific context and
the facilitators will be facilitating a guided brainstorming to generate a
multi-sensory mapping and to identify design elements that will be used to
define the acoustic environment.
Cushner
and Downey has been helping owners and designers in the implementation of
acoustic and multi-sensory strategies defining place, orientation, and
destination aiding visually impaired individuals in navigating buildings
without relying heavily on technology.
Admission
is priced at $30 for AIA members and $40 for general admission.
