The
San Francisco Art institute (SFAI) is inviting everyone to The Artist in Public
Life symposium happening on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Lecture Hall.
The
event brings together experienced public practitioners, arts administrators,
and emerging artists for a lively discussion about commissioned and
artist-initiated work in the public realm. Practical strategies for artists
entering the field will also be covered in the symposium.
The
keynote speech will be delivered by Public Art Fund Director and Chief Curator Nicholas
Baume. He was appointed Director and Chief Curator of Public Art Fund in
September 2009. Recent shows include solo projects by Ryan Gander, Paola Pivi,
Rob Pruitt, Ugo Rondinone, and Thomas Schütte; the group exhibitions Statuesque
and Common Ground; the major career survey Sol LeWitt: Structures 1965-2006;
and the blockbuster project Tatzu Nishi: Discovering Columbus.
