Marcus Shelby and Arts for the City at de Young SF

The de Young Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco is inviting everyone to the Fridays Nights at the de Young featuring a performance from the Marcus Shelby Quintet as well as a special lecture entitled Arts for the City: Civic Arts for Urban Change.

Friday Nights at the de Young include a mix of live music, dance and theater performances, film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, artist demonstrations, hands-on art activities, and exhibition tours. It brings together local artists and the public for a one of a kind after-hours treat centered on the creative process. There are art commission debuts, drop-in workshops, exhibit tours, as well as art on display at the Kimball Education Gallery.

For those looking for a delicious treat, the café has a prix-fixe menu and specialty cocktails.

Artist Fellows, Artists-in-Residence, curators, scholars, and arts educators will also be present to make this event a memorable experience.
