Earth Day SF DIY Exhibits
Don’t miss the chance to learn new things at the DIY Exhibits to be featured at the “Earth Day SF” celebration happening on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 10:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon at the Civic Center Plaza.
The exhibits include:
• Handmade Organic Fruit Extractions by Francisco Jimenez, Fruit Technician — Guests will learn how to hack fruits like bananas, pineapples, apples, strawberries, and figs, and turn them into vinegars, syrups, compost, fertilizer, and pesticides.
• Solar Thermal Popcorn Generator by Ky Faubion, inventor — This exhibit features a “42-inch Fresnel lens mounted on a lazy Susan type turret with pitch adjustment to face all angles adjacent to the sun.”
• Learn How to Build an Energy Computer — Growing Energy Labs will be teaching visitors how to build their own Energy Computers; a hardware/software platform that stores and intelligently manages electricity.
• Learn How to Build Your Own Wind Turbine by Brad Hunter — Hunter will be giving instructions on how to construct a basic Savionus turbine for making DC power as well as how to use the energy acquired from it.
